PRIME for Word XP/2002 is the latest collection of utilities for Microsoft Word XP/2002 (part of Microsoft Office XP/2002) and found on our PRIME for Office Utilities CD.
PRIME Tips -- we include a large collection of tips intended to help you learn about the utility features at your own pace.
Address Mapper -- looks in the current document for a street address, then maps that address in your Web browser using tools provided by Expedia Maps.
Booklet Creator -- helps you quickly create and print booklets, and walks you through the process of configuring your printer for manual duplex printing.
Bookmark Manager -- View, modify, catalog (in a table), goto, and delete bookmarks and their contents, and display bookmark statistics. This utility properly handles the recalcitrant Smart Cut and Paste feature of Word 2000. Also, neither Word's Edit Bookmark nor Edit Go To dialogs display a bookmark's contents, PRIME Bookmark Manager does!
Bookmark Popup -- pops up a sorted list of all bookmark names in the current document; select one and you're there instantly.
Clear History Lists -- There are 17 built-in Word dialogs that contain most recently used (MRU) file history lists, plus the MRU File List located on Word's File Menu. This utility searches out the built-in Word dialogs that contain file history lists and lets you clear those history lists with a single click. It does the same for the MRU File List on Word's File menu. The utility works from a popup menu, and it only lists the dialogs that currently have active file history lists. Once you clear a list, it is removed from the popup until it becomes active again. There's even a Reset All MRU Lists button.
Command Bar Manager -- finds, analyzes, and modifies the controls (buttons) on any Word command bar in ways not possible with Word itself. Among its many features, you can dynamically modify each command bar's controls and their attributes: caption, description text, macro, ToolTip text, face ID (image), and more; plus you can edit, copy, paste, and reset button images.
Image Editor -- Our highly advanced Image Editor tool provided with PRIME Command Bar Manager is full of features not available in Office's built-in button editor. Our editor's unique features are: Fill with Color Tool, Pick Color Tool, Flip Colors, Undo and Redo (5 levels each), Rotate Center, Rotate Vertical, Rotate Horizontal, and More Colors (presents a 256-color palette or allows you to define any custom color you desire).
Document Variable Manager -- Document variables are a cool feature of Word, but there's no native feature for manipulating them. This utility allows you to add, view, modify, delete and catalog (in a table) document variables and their contents.
File Delete -- PRIME File Delete allows you to safely delete (to the Recycle Bin) the current document, permanently delete it (with no retention in the Recycle Bin), or explore the contents of the Recycle Bin.
FileNew Popup -- FileNew Popup displays a list of useful commands that help you create new documents and interact with those documents' parent templates. This tool includes some commands that aren't available in Word's built-in interface.
Find My Dot -- This utility displays the current document's fully-qualified parent template name in a dialog box, then allows you to open the template or create a new file based on it. Handy as a pocket on a shirt!
Folder Now -- Ever wanted to see all the files that reside in the same folder as the current opened document is in? Folder Now provides this capability in two ways, either you can explore the current document's folder inside a new instance of Windows Explorer, or you can fire up a File Open dialog already pointing to the current Office document's path. You'll be amazed how convenient and what a serious time-saver this is.
Make a Mark -- Takes whatever text you've currently got selected and attempts to create a new bookmark using a name comprised of the first 15 characters of the selected material. If there are problems or errors (name already exists, illegal name, selection doesn't contain any text) it displays a Word's bookmark naming rules then pops up a small dialog box so you can type in another name.
Outline Exporter -- Outline Exporter deletes all non-heading paragraphs in a document, leaving behind just the heading paragraphs, that is, an outline without any body text.
This tool is especially useful for writers who need to submit a long document's outline to an agent or editor for review.
Proof Controller -- Lets you quickly toggle a section of your document between "no proofing" (which excludes the section from spell checking) and the language of your choice.
Shortcut Now -- Create a Shortcut for the current document in any available location. This tool invokes the same Create Shortcut wizard you see when you right-click on your Windows desktop then choose New, Shortcut.
Smart Quotes Flipper -- pops up a list of commands that make Word's Smart Quotes feature behave nicely. Toggle smart quotes, flip all curly quotes in a document replacing them with straight, replace straight with curly, this is one you won't want to be without.
Task Pane Manager -- Allows you to control and customize numerous aspects of the Task Pane's behavior from one centralized menu list.
Window Manager -- Select for closing one, several, or all open Word windows; and create a new window, split, and arrange windows.
PRIME WorkBar -- Try PRIME Workbar and you'll be hooked -- it's that good. This utility gives you a one-click listing of your key working documents right on your menu bar (or a toolbar, your choice), automatically sorts the document list as you add them, and supports a wide variety of file formats (will launch a file's parent application for you automatically so you're not limited to only Word documents on your WorkBar), and gives you control over how the document is opened in Word.
Zoomer -- Zoom using 3-D slider and 10 custom settings that remember your last 5 zooms and 5 pre-set zooms.
Add or Remove Buttons from a PRIME Toolbar -- This tool lists all of the currently installed PRIME for Word tools (non-Quick Click tools) in a popup menu. By selecting one, you can remove its button from the toolbar, either the PRIME for Word or the PRIME Quick Clicks toolbar.
Quick Clicks -- A set of utilities that provide single-click access to Word's most frequently asked-for functions. All PRIME Quick Clicks utilities reside on the "PRIME Quick Clicks" toolbar.
- PRIME Add/Remove Office Features - starts the Microsoft Office XP Setup program in maintenance mode. It displays the Maintenance Mode Options panel with the "Add or Remove Features - Change which features are installed or remove specific features" radio button selected. The other radio buttons on this panel are "Repair Office..." and "Uninstall Office..."
- PRIME Delete All Comments - deletes all comments in the current document, but always prompts you before proceeding with their deletion. If the insertion point is empty (no text is selected), the utility will delete all of the comments in the document. If material is selected, the utility will delete all of the comments in the selection, but none of the comments outside of the selection.
- PRIME Explore Documents Folder - click this button and get a Windows Explorer instance open to whatever folder you have defined in Word as your Documents folder (Tools / Options / File Locations / Documents).
- PRIME File Properties - displays Word's Document Properties dialog
- PRIME Lock Fields - runs Word's built-in LockFields command
- PRIME Unlock Fields - runs Word's built-in UnlockFields command
- PRIME Unlink Fields - unlinks all the fields in the current document
- PRIME New Office Document - displays Office's "New Office Document" dialog from which you can create a wide variety of different new Office documents
- PRIME Open Office Document - displays Office's "Open Office Document" dialog in which you can browse to and open any type of Office document
- PRIME Organizer - displays Word's Organizer dialog
- PRIME Print Selection - prints the current selection to the current printer
- PRIME Quick Quoter - puts quotes around the current selection by inserting an opening double quote mark to the left of the current selection and inserting a closing double quote mark to the right of the current selection
- PRIME Reverser - reverses the currently selected two characters; if fewer or more than two characters are selected, nothing happens. Works regardless of your Tools / Options / Edit settings. Great for switching the position of a punctuation mark (say, a period or comma) that belongs inside a closing parenthesis or quote mark instead of outside, or vice versa.
